Welcome to TEAM TORONTO!
Historically, a whole community of Toronto-based LGBT athletes would band together to travel to international LGBT games as one combined TEAM TORONTO! Aaaand legend has it, (by legend, we mean some Torontonians that participated), TEAM TORONTO was the funnest most exciting group of athletes! For the Montreal OutGames of 2006, 500 LGBT Torontonians took over an entire VIA RAIL train on their way to MTL. That poor, innocent family from Saskatoon have still not recovered from the things they saw on that train… In any case, just imagine the fantastic and unforgettable experience of travelling with 500 new friends to compete TOGETHER at an LGBT games! You’ll never regret it!
TEAM TORONTO is a programme of Outsport Toronto, and many of our members have gone to these games in the past, and so we are re-ignting TEAM TORONTO. We are building this community first to get us to Cleveland, but then for this group of friends to stay together for the exciting years ahead! TEAM TORONTO will exist for Pan Am Games here in Toronto, and for LGBT games of the future, in places like Miami Beach and Paris, MAGNIFIQUE!
We are building the TEAM, so we can all march into every GAMES as one big TEAM TORONTO. While we build, we are recruiting sponsors for uniforms, parties, and travel! We are also going to be offering events to meet your team members throughout the year, before the games, after the games, and during the games! OUTSPORT TORONTO serves and supports LGBT amateur sport and recreation organisations and athletes in the Greater Toronto Area and TEAM TORONTO is being led by our Director of Games, Catherine Meade.
TEAM TORONTO’s mission is to build a community, organizing and bringing participants from the Greater Toronto Area together to compete at multi-sport LGBT games.
Our Vision is to be a network of LGBT athletes across multiple sports promoting involvement and enthusiasm to compete in multi-sport LGBT games as part of one TEAM TORONTO.
